Web Hosting Features
My web hosting plan includes the following features.
- 120 Mega bytes of disk space+
- 8 Giga bytes of bandwidth*
- 1 Domain
- 4 sub-domains#
- 4 domain aliases&
- 10 email accounts total (you can have more within reason)
All this for $7.00 per month and no advertising.
+Disk Space usage is the total of all the files used by your hosting account, including all web site files, emails, log files and files stored on site. I suggest downloading your emails (you do this) regularly to reduce your disk space usage. In other words don't use your disk space on the server to store all your emails. It eats up disk space. Download all your emails to your computer and delete them from the server. You can set Outlook Express or whatever you are using as an email client to delete mail from the server immediately or after a specified time. I can help you set up your email client to do this.
*Bandwidth usage is a rolling 30 day total that includes all data transfer from and to your web site, email and ftp services for the last 30 days. You can incur additional charges if you exceed your allowed bandwith. I wouldn't be too worried about this. This happens when a site is really popular and has alot of visitors.
#The sub domain name is the third or lower level domain name that points to a sub folder for the domain. For example the sub domain 'http://mysub.domain.com' will point to 'http://domain.com/mysub'. The sub domain will treat the sub folder as its root directory.
&The domain alias name is the full domain name that will alias the main hosted domain for this account. When connecting to the domain alias name through a web browser, you will see the same web site as the main hosted domain. This is useful when you have also registered the .net and/or the .org domain name. When someone types in .net or .org instead of .com for your site, it will still take them to you primary site.
As for email accounts, I have found no one really uses more than two or three accounts with their domain name. I supposed if your ministry or church was large enough to have some staff you could then give each one an email address.
The most important features are price, disk space and email accounts. There are several other features which are included but so standard you can really ignore them.
